Prime Big Deal Days: what actually goes on sale

Tuesday, October 6 to Wednesday, October 7, 2026

Amazon’s October sale lasts 48 hours and is for Prime members only, with new deals dropping at midnight, 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Pacific each day. Last October the real discounts clustered in a handful of categories. These are the ones worth watching — and if a parent needs something that isn’t here, see the list further down of things not worth waiting for.

Thursday, October 8 until Black Friday week begins

Last year Amazon’s next sitewide sale after October was Black Friday week, which began on November 20. These weeks are the time to set up deliveries of the monthly supplies that rarely go on sale at all, and to buy anything a parent needs now. Subscribe & Save takes a little off each delivery, with a bigger discount once five or more subscriptions arrive together. A coupon you clip usually applies to the first delivery only.

Amazon hasn’t yet said when its Black Friday sale starts this year. In 2025 it began on November 20, eight days before Black Friday, and ran through Cyber Monday. On last year’s evidence, these are the things worth holding for.

Before you buy anything in a sale

   Compare the price you pay, not the percentage

   A big percentage off is measured against a list price, and list prices move — some went up this year. If you’ve looked at an item before, compare what you’d pay now with what you saw then.

   Measure first

   Beds, recliners and lift chairs have to fit the room, and wheelchairs and rollators have to fit through the doorways at home. A sale is a bad time to find out they don’t.

   Check the weight capacity

   Every chair, bench, rail and walker has a rated limit. Check it against the person who will use it, with room to spare.

   Check who is selling it

   On medical and safety equipment, look at “Ships from” and “Sold by” on the product page before buying from a seller you don’t recognize.

   Check for recalls, especially on bed rails

   In November 2025 the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled about 81,000 adult portable bed rails sold on Amazon, over a risk of entrapment and death by asphyxiation. Check before you buy any bed rail, sale or not.

   Check FSA and HSA eligibility

   Some mobility and medical equipment can be paid for from a flexible spending or health savings account. Paying with pre-tax money saves the tax you would otherwise have paid on it.

   Check the return window

   Large items such as mattresses, beds and lift chairs often have different return rules from small ones. Check the return date on the product page before you buy.
