Who these are for

  • Anyone who finds newspaper puzzles too small to read comfortably.
  • Families looking for a quiet activity to share with a parent or grandparent.
  • Activity directors, senior centers and libraries running a puzzle or trivia group.

How to print and use them

  1. 1Print one puzzle per sheet. If the print still looks small, set the scale above 100% in the print window or use larger paper.
  2. 2Hand out the puzzles and keep the answer pages back; they are at the end of each PDF.
  3. 3For a group, read the trivia questions aloud and let tables answer together.
  4. 4Use the puzzle maker to build a word search from names, places or topics your group knows.

Questions

Are the answers included?

Yes. The word searches, crosswords, trivia and Sudoku all have their answers on separate pages at the back of the PDF, so you can hand out the puzzles on their own.

Which puzzle is easiest to start with?

The word searches are the gentlest: the words never run backwards and the letters are large. Trivia suits a group because people can answer together. Sudoku and crosswords take more concentration.

Can I print them in black and white?

Yes. The word searches, crosswords, trivia and calendar each have a separate black-and-white PDF that saves ink.

Can I copy them for a group?

Yes. Senior centers, libraries and care homes can print and photocopy as many as they need for the people they serve. Please link to this page rather than uploading the PDFs elsewhere.
